Panel 1: The Past and Future of Natural Gas Trading
Bill Perkins

Bill Perkins, is a renowned energy trader who began his career in 1991 as a trainee on the New York Mercantile Exchange. After earning a B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Iowa, he moved to Houston in 1995 where he honed his skills as a trader and risk manager for firms like El Paso Energy, Statoil and AIG Energy Trading. In 2002, Perkins joined Centaurus Energy, where he generated over $1 billion in trading profits. He later founded Skylar Capital in 2012, an energy trading hedge fund focused on U.S. domestic and global gas futures, options, and swaps. Perkins is also the author of the Wall Street Journal bestselling book Die With Zero and has been recognized for his work as a film producer, entrepreneur, philanthropist and poker player.
John Arnold

John Arnold is a former energy trader who rose to prominence as one of the most successful natural gas traders in history. John began his career at Enron in 1995 after graduating from Vanderbilt University, where his talents as a trader quickly became apparent, reportedly earning the company $750 million in 2001. John went on to found Centaurus Energy in 2002, where he generated billions in profits and earned a reputation for his disciplined risk management and data-driven bets. Centaurus managed over $6 billion in assets at the fund's peak and influenced market dynamics through his strategic foresight. John retired from trading in 2012 at age 38. Today, he and his wife run Arnold Ventures, a public policy foundation addressing systemic issues in areas like criminal justice, education, infrastructure, and healthcare with data-driven, evidence-based solutions. He also co-founded GridUnited, a developer of high-voltage, interregional transmission lines.

Rob Barnett
Bloomberg Intelligence - Senior Analyst
Rob Barnett, a Senior Analyst at Bloomberg Intelligence, is a seasoned research professional with over two decades of experience advising investors, companies, and policy makers. Barnett’s research franchise is focused on the wind and solar industries, the energy transition, and Canadian energy producers.
Barnett holds a master’s degree in economics from Boston University and undergraduate and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Clemson University. Before joining Bloomberg Intelligence, he was Bloomberg Government's Senior Energy Economist; and previously, he was an Associate Director of Climate Change and Clean Energy at IHS Cambridge Energy Research Associates.
Barnett’s work has been regularly cited by CNN, the FT, Forbes, The Economist, Bloomberg News, The Atlantic, Business Insider, and other media outlets.
Mike McGlone
Bloomberg Intelligence - Senior Commodity Strategist
Mike McGlone is a senior commodity strategist for Bloomberg Intelligence, a unique research platform that provides context on industries, companies, and government policy, available on the Bloomberg Professional service at BI <GO>. Mr. McGlone specializes in the broad investible commodity markets, authoring the monthly Bloomberg Commodity Outlook.
Mr. McGlone joined Bloomberg in 2016 with over 25 years of futures and commodity trading and investing experience, beginning at the Chicago Board of Trade. Prior to joining Bloomberg, he was a head of U.S. research at ETF Securities. Prior to ETF Securities, Mr. McGlone headed the commodity business at S&P Indices. His previous roles included head of futures research at ABN Amro and VP research, analyst, trader, sales at Aubrey G. Lanston IBJ Futures.
Mr. McGlone has an MBA from DePaul University in Chicago and bachelor’s of science and arts degrees from Illinois State University. He is a CFA Charter holder and has earned a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) designation.
Panel 3: New Space Tech for Trading Insights
Gabe Dominocielo
Gabe Dominocielo is the President and Co-founder of Umbra, a technology company specializing in advanced space systems to both commercial and government clients. Before establishing Umbra in 2015, Dominocielo co-founded and served as Chief Operating Officer of a legal services firm whose panel attorneys achieved over $1 billion in verdicts and settlements.
Under his leadership, Umbra has distinguished itself by offering the highest-resolution commercial satellite images available, utilizing proprietary technology to capture clear imagery through clouds and at night.
Dominocielo is recognized for his pragmatic approach to the space industry, emphasizing sound unit economics and transparent business practices. He advocates for strong partnerships free of channel conflicts and has implemented transparent, self-service scheduling and tasking, permissive licensing, and clear public universal pricing at Umbra. His leadership has been instrumental in positioning Umbra as a significant player in the satellite market, providing critical data and systems for applications ranging from military intelligence to environmental monitoring.
Matt Tirman
Matt Tirman serves as President of Satellogic, bringing more than 20 years of experience in technology and aerospace from across the US government and international markets. As President, he leads the operational execution of Satellogic’s strategy and business plan. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Tirman held the position of Chief Commercial Officer, where he began laying the groundwork for Satellogic’s early entry into the US market.
Before joining Satellogic in 2021, Matt served as Head of Government at Descartes Labs, a leading provider of geospatial and multi-sensor analytics, where he revenue growth and customer delivery across defense and intelligence clients. His previous roles include Chief Commercial Officer at PlanetRisk, where he was responsible for delivering enterprise geospatial risk analytics and customized big data solutions to Global 1000 customers; Chief Executive Officer and founder of Access Global, a consulting firm providing executive management, sales, and business development solutions in foreign markets across EMEA and Asia; Vice President and Managing Director at Strategic Social, a technology and services firm operating frontier markets across the Middle East and North Africa that he helped grow to more than $40M in annual revenue before it was sold to Constellis in 2014.
Additionally, Matt has served as an analyst for the US Department of Defense on cooperative Research and Development and as a speechwriter for senior military leadership in Washington D.C. and Baghdad, Iraq. He holds a master’s degree in Defense and Security from Lancaster University and a BS in Political Science from East Carolina University.
Topher Haddad
Topher Haddad is the Co-founder/CEO of Albedo, a company building VLEO satellites. Albedo's first satellite, Clarity-1, demonstrates the disruptive potential VLEO - capturing imagery at a resolution previously only possible with aircraft or billion-dollar government satellites.
Prior to Albedo, Topher worked for Lockheed Martin as an engineer on National Security space programs. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Johns Hopkins.
Panel 4: Power Markets and the Future of the Grid
Alex Elsik
Mr. Elsik has ~25 years of experience in energy trading and risk management. In 2012 he launched Geosol Capital, where he serves as the principal and head trader. He oversees all trading, fundamental analysis, and market research for the funds managed by Geosol. The company specializes in electricity and natural gas markets across North America.
Prior to launching Geosol Capital, he co-founded Keystone Energy Partners, LP. In that capacity he was responsible for all of the trading desks. He actively developed and executed strategies in multiple domestic electricity markets (ERCOT, PJM, and MISO), natural gas markets, and oil markets. While at Keystone, Mr. Elsik co-founded Kinetic Energy, a wholly owned subsidiary of Keystone which provides retail electric services in ERCOT. He was responsible for the supply side (commodity pricing, risk management, and hedging) of the retail franchise.
Prior to the formation of Keystone, Mr. Elsik was the Director of Reliant Energy’s ERCOT trading desk. In this capacity he was primarily responsible for the hedging and position management of Reliant Energy’s ERCOT position, including its load obligation (~22% of the state of Texas at the time.)
Pablo Vegas
Pablo Vegas holds a life-long passion for learning, innovation, and growth. He has developed these passions over a 29-year career spanning the boardroom and the C-suite across the energy industry, financial services, and banking industry, as well as in management consulting and professional services.
Mr. Vegas is currently the President and CEO of ERCOT. In this role, he plays a critical part in ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of the Texas electric grid, enabling the energy transition and expansion that is supporting the fastest growing economy in the United States.
Prior to ERCOT, Mr. Vegas was Executive Vice President of NiSource, and Group President of NiSource Utilities, where he oversaw NiSource’s electric and gas business segments and championed outstanding service to NiSource customers. He served as a versatile executive at NiSource for six years, holding numerous roles, including Chief Operating Officer, President of Columbia Gas Group, and Chief Customer Officer.
Prior to joining NiSource, Mr. Vegas held a variety of senior executive positions with American Electric Power (AEP), including President and Chief Operating Officer of AEP Ohio, President and Chief Operating Officer of AEP Texas, and Vice President and Chief Information Officer of AEP.
Before his career in the energy industry, Mr. Vegas served in senior leadership positions with IBM, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Andersen Consulting.
Mr. Vegas serves as an independent director on the board of Northwest Bancshares Inc. (Nasdaq: NWBI). He also serves on the Global Advisory Board for the Harvard Business School. He is a member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association and a member of the Austin Area Research Organization. He was appointed to the Texas Energy Reliability Council by Governor Abbott in 2022.
Mr. Vegas attended the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and graduated cum laude from the University of Michigan with a BS degree in mechanical engineering.
Andrew Waranch
Andrew Waranch is the Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Spearmint Energy. Andrew brings over 25 years of research, optimization, and portfolio management experience across the electricity power markets to Spearmint Energy, having previously worked at energy optimization firms, including Elustria, Elliott Associates, Deutsche Bank, Merrill Lynch, and Constellation Energy. He holds a B.S. in Applied Economics and Business Management from the Dyson School of Business at Cornell University. Andrew is a Board Member of Spearmint Renewable Development Company, LLC., Spearmint Renewable Energy Services, LLC., and is Chairman of the Board for Spearmint Management Services, LLC.
Panel 5: North American Oil, Supply and Demand Insights
Kobi Platt
Kobi Platt is the Head of Commodity Strategy at Brevan Howard, where he leads market research and strategy across global energy and commodity markets. He brings over 15 years of experience in trading and research roles on the buy side, with a focus on crude oil, refined products, natural gas, power, freight, and metals. Before entering the private sector, Kobi spent four years as an economist at the U.S. Energy Information Administration, where he contributed to national energy outlooks and policy analysis. His work blends macroeconomic insight with physical market fundamentals, and he regularly speaks on commodity market structure, risk, and cross-asset dynamics.
Kobi was formerly a Term Member at the Council on Foreign Relations. In addition, he holds a Bachelors of Philosophy with a focus in Natural Resource Economics from Miami (OH) University as well as a Masters of Applied Economics and Masters of Science (Natural Resources) from the University of Michigan.
Emily Kyne
Emily Kyne joined ARM Energy in June 2015 and currently serves as the Vice President of Commodity Strategy and Trade Analytics for ARM Energy Trading. She leads fundamental and quantitative analysis across ARM’s business units in Canada, the US, and Mexico.
In her role, Ms. Kyne delivers actionable market intelligence to ARM’s asset optimization and merchant trading desks while providing strategic guidance to the company’s physical marketing clients. She has presented on regional supply and demand dynamics and fund flows to producer boards, executive teams, marketing groups, and private equity sponsors in the US and Canada.
Beyond her commercial responsibilities, Ms. Kyne contributes to the efforts of ARM's Executive team, collaborates with Tokyo Gas, ARM Energy Trading's minority equity partner, and mentors emerging talent through the company’s internship and new graduate programs. Previously, as Senior Portfolio Manager at ARM, she advised risk management teams about commodity hedging and options and futures markets.
With 20 years of experience in financial and physical energy marketing, Ms. Kyne has worked across crude, NGL, natural gas, and power markets. Before joining ARM, she held positions at Apache Canada, Nexen Marketing, and Connacher Oil and Gas. She holds an MBA with a Specialism in Finance from Edinburgh Business School and an undergraduate degree from the University of Calgary.
Michelle Brouhard
Michelle Brouhard is a portfolio manager at Jain Global, where she runs a long/short portfolio focused exclusively on energy commodities, including crude oil and refined products. She has over 20 years of experience in global commodity markets, with previous investing experience across equities, FX, and credit from a commodity-driven perspective. Michelle was named one of The Hedge Fund Journal / Ernst & Young’s “50 Leading Women in Hedge Funds” and holds a master’s degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where she focused on global policy and energy security.

Ira Joseph
Ira Joseph is a Senior Research Associate at the Center on Global Energy Policy at Columbia University. Until 2022, he was the global head of global generating fuels and electric power pricing at S&P Global Platts, with over 30 years of experience in the sector. Prior to his pricing role, he was global head of Gas and Power Analytics at Platts. Ira joined S&P Global Platts during the acquisition of PIRA Energy Group in 2016, where he started the firm’s European Gas and Power and Global LNG services in 1999. Before PIRA, he worked at Energy Intelligence Group, where he was the editor in chief of World Gas Intelligence and authored versions of the International Crude Oil Handbook and the original Global Gas Handbook.
Uday Turaga
Uday Turaga is Founder & CEO of ADI Analytics, a boutique consulting and research firm specializing in oil and gas, energy, and chemicals. Since 2009, ADI has completed over ~1,000 projects for ~400 clients including ExxonMobil, Shell, Aramco, BASF, GE, Microsoft, KKR, and U.S. Department of Energy. Uday brings ~25 years of experience in oil & gas, energy, and chemicals at ExxonMobil, ConocoPhillips, Booz, and ADI. He has a PhD in fuel science from Penn State and an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin. Uday has published over 100 articles, holds two U.S. patents, and has won awards from U.S. National Academy of Engineering and American Chemical Society. He has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and on National Public Radio and other media outlets.
